| Frequently Asked
Questions |
| Will my worms reach
me in good condition? |
Top |
Your worms will be dispatched first class, by recorded
delivery. The worms will be in a bedding mixture within
a cotton bag within a stout cardboard box. They can
live quite happily in this environment for up to three
weeks, but we recommend you unpack them immediately.

| Will my worms run
away from me? |
Top |
'Worm gallop' as it is known in the trade, should
not occur if you remember that worms, like all living
creatures if cared for correctly, will have no reason
to leave home.
|
| What will my worms
eat? |
Top |
Dendrabaena can be fed all forms of kitchen scraps,
most waste foods, cardboard, newspapers etc. The smaller
and moister the better.
|
| What should not be
fed to worms? |
Top |
Shopping trolleys, car batteries, metals, plastics.
Basically anything non-Organic. Avoid spicy foods,
high acid foods and any chemically-sprayed garden
waste.
|
| How do I feed my worms?
|
Top |
An ideal way is to wrap your kitchen scraps in soggy
newspaper and place them on top of the compost heap
or wormery. Remember the smaller the size of the waste,
the quicker it will be consumed.
|
| How do I harvest the
castings? |
Top |
The castings may be removed directly from the bin
or wormery by hand, leaving the removed castings in
the light. Then scrape away the top until any worms
or eggs are found, and these should be put back in
the bin or wormery. Alternatively, completely empty
the bin or wormery and perform the same process. Remember,
worms will always move down away from the light. Our
installation booklet explains all the questions listed
above, and more, in greater detail.
