About the Box Scheme
Order Now!
Each week customers receive a box of up to 9 different types
of vegetable and/or 6 of fruit, which will vary each week
according to season and availability. This 'surprise' element
leads people to try different produce and eliminates the decision
making process of what to shop for!

There is so much adverse publicity today about the foods
we eat that people are becoming more aware of the need for
change. Organic farming is safe and sustainable, environmentally
friendly and, most importantly, produces healthy (and tasty)
vegetables. Scientists have recently unearthed evidence that
suggests that organic foods, grown without artificial pesticides
and fertilisers, contain higher levels of nutrients.
At the beginning of the year 2002 demand for organic food
is rising by 35 percent a year and is being bought by one
in five shoppers.

Unlike most box schemes, where the customer has to collect
from a 'pick-up-point', we are happy to deliver to your door.
In order to provide variety and consistency of quality, on
a week to week basis, we supplement the fruit and vegetables
we produce (over 150 varieties in 2001) with produce from
nearby organic farms and co-operatives. The freshness factor
is all-important and you receive your produce within 24 hours
of us harvesting or taking delivery.
Tallywacker farm has been operating a box scheme since May
1999. In this period of time we have established a regular
customer base of 200 and the number is increasing weekly.
Growers and processors of organic food are governed by the
strict rules and standards of recognised bodies, such as the
Soil Association and the UK Register of Organic Foods (UKROFS).
All produce in our boxes is guaranteed organic and meets these
guidelines.
